10 THINGS TO DO AT HOME IN QUARANTINE

As an attempt to suppress the spread of the Corona Virus, many cities have been placed on lockdown and many of us are at a loss for creative things to do to keep us busy and thus sane in this period. If you’re part of the many who need a little inspiration to keep it pushing during this lockdown, Trenzz is here to the rescue. Here are my top 10 things to do at home in quarantine. Here we go…

1. BINGE WATCH T.V SHOWS, MOVIES, TELENOVELAS, AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS

The lockdown is a fantastic opportunity to catch up on shows that you were previously too busy to see. One of the best ways to kill time and be entertained is to have a marathon of your favorite programmes on T.V or YouTube. You could also use this time to check out new movies. Some of my personal faves on YouTube are; Girl and the Word, Wah Banana, and The cut.

2. READ CHILDREN’S BOOKS
Yup, particularly for my comrades who find regular adult books too boring. I mean lets be real, many of them are. I recommend children’s books because the majority of them are easy to read, short, and interesting. Why should those little guys alone have all of the fun? Some of my recommendations are Charlotte’s Web, Tuck Everlasting, The tale of Peter Rabbit, and Aesop’s fables. Although it isn’t exactly a children’s book, I also recommend The Arabian Nights for your reading pleasure. It’s very entertaining. All of these books are available to be downloaded online for free.

3. START A SELF IMPROVEMENT JOURNEY
This is huge because there is nothing like bettering yourself. It may not be enjoyable for you but it will definitely be worth your while. This would be a good time to learn a new language, speak better, get on a fitness plan, perfect a skill like cooking, your options are limitless. Don’t let all of this free time pass you by. Utilize it as best as you can.

4. PLAY GAMES

Video games, games on your phone, puzzles in magazines, the whole shebang, entertain yourself. I’ve recently been replaying an old version of the Angry birds game on my phone and quite frankly the victory sounds still get me. I feel pure joy each time I utterly destroy those pigs and am awarded the honorary three stars. The pigs mock you all through the game so the chance to finally say to them, “Who’s laughing now?” is very satisfying. I recommend that you find a game that gives you this much joy and kill time with it. Your joy is worth it. The version of The Angry Birds game that I am currently playing is version 2.0.0

5. START A CHALLENGE OR JOIN ONE
There’s currently the 1,000 steps a day challenge going on. It’s a fitness challenge and it is fantastic. It is an opportunity to put your mind and energy into something beneficial to you and honestly it is a great way to spend your time. There are several other challenges out there that you could become a part of if you want or you could just start one by yourself. Challenge yourself to speak gently all the time, Challenge yourself to control your temper, Challenge yourself to eat healthy or eat less, Challenge yourself to be kind to everyone(even to those who don’t deserve it), Challenge yourself to learn something new in a set number of days, the list goes on. Get busy challenging yourself to grow and do better. Let me know what challenges you’re starting in the comments below.

6. KEEP UP WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY

Even though we may not be able to see our friends and some of our family members in this season, there’s no reason we shouldn’t try to keep up with them and know how they are faring. Thanks to technology, there is so much we can do still without having to be together in the physical such as video calling, voice calling, texting, or even sharing videos and pictures with the ones we love.

7. EXPLORE PINTEREST AND OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

Pinterest is an amazing app to find inspiration for pretty much everything. I find myself saying to my friends every time they’re in need of fresh ideas for any project, “Have you tried Pinterest?” It literally is an abyss of ideas and the chances of not finding inspiration on any particular project are almost nonexistent. For fun, you could create futuristic boards for yourself on Pinterest. You could also create other boards for whatever other topics that interest you. Another really entertaining social media application that should be worth your while is Tik Tok. You will find that time goes by really fast when you’re on Pinterest or Tik Tok. You could also check out the other social media platforms that there are to keep up with your friends on there.

8. GET CREATIVE
This will also make a good time to get your creative juices flowing. Write a book if this is your thing, design an app if it is your forte. Whatever you can, create! Get your time’s worth out of this season. It’s not going to last forever.

9. MAKE PLANS FOR YOUR LIFE POST QUARANTINE
I’m sure there are a couple of things you would like to do once the lockdown is lifted. Maybe it’s something you had taken for granted prior to the lockdown situation, or maybe it just came up. Whatever the case may be, schedule to have these things done once all of this is over. It would give you something to look forward to while we wait for this season to pass.

10. SPRING CLEAN YOUR HOME

It can be a bit of a challenge keeping your house in completely pristine conditions during a regular work week which is why another wonderful thing to do with some of all this free time is to give your home a thorough cleaning. I find that it is very satisfying for me when my space is spotless. It gives me so much joy. If you’ve been wanting to give your space that spring clean, the time is now.

BONUS POINT
If you have read this post up till this point you’re the real OG and I appreciate you. Here’s a bonus point for YOU!

10+1. REARRANGE AND REDECORATE YOUR SPACE
If you still crave something to do in quarantine, definitely try this one out. Rearrange your furniture or redecorate your space. If you have a printer at home, you could print out some artsy images from Pinterest to deck your walls with. Not only would this little endeavor be putting your time to good use, these minor alterations could create a feeling of a different environment for you. So you end up leaving your house without actually leaving. I got you!

I hope you find all of these tips helpful. Do share with me in the comments below your favorite tip. Till next time, stay safe guys. God be with you always!
